The Midnight Club is a podcast designed for those of us who spend several hours per week training for events, many times sacrificing time from friends, family and work, and are happy to just be out there, giving it their all, despite not reaching a podium finish, or sometimes not finishing at all. The origin of the name comes from the original structure of an Ironman race. Participants would start at 7 am and have 17 hours to complete the course by midnight. While I find inspiration by well accomplished endurance athletes, and try to follow their example, I also find motivation by the average athlete that has put in so much work just to participate in an event. I still would love to interview people who have and are accomplishing great things. However, I also want to talk to regular folks many of us have not heard of, and get their stories, too.

Our trip to Kona has been postponed and now we are thinking of doing both the original and current Ironman World Championship courses in April. We have six weeks to train, so why not?!

Always Check Your Batteries
Friday Feb 05, 2021
Friday Feb 05, 2021
Clint and Kelly (not this one) impart their wisdom from Josh’s Taps and Caps in Snohomish…until the batteries run out at minute five. They relocated to finish up at Crucible Brewing in Everett, Washington. Both were fun places and it’s great that restaurants and food establishments were able to stay open during the second shutdown, albeit outside and in a tent. But, that’s what spot heaters and jackets are for.
We discuss having to get comfortable with body functions during endurance events, the importance of physician visits and discovering something called “sports anemia”. We also discuss Covid vaccinations as a way to ensure races happen again (consider getting vaccinated when you’re eligible!). Kelly preps me for a Kona adventure. I also think this would be a dream ride.
